Protecting Marriage Between One Man and One Woman

Californians are gearing up and preparing to get the vote out for Proposition 8 in November. What is Proposition 8? From ProtectMarriage.com’s site (also listed in column to the right):

The Issue

California voters passed Proposition 22 in 2000 by more than 61%, saying that a marriage in California is between a man and a woman. Earlier this year, four activist judges based in San Francisco wrongly overturned the people’s vote, legalizing same-sex marriage.

The Consequences

The Supreme Court’s decision to legalize same-sex marriage did not just overturn the will of California voters; it also redefined marriage for the rest of society, without ever asking the people themselves to accept this decision. This decision has far-reaching consequences. For example, because public schools are already required to teach the role of marriage in society as part of the curriculum, schools will now be required to teach students that gay marriage is the same as traditional marriage, starting with kindergarteners. By saying that a marriage is between “any two persons” rather than between a man and a woman, the Court decision has opened the door to any kind of “marriage.” This undermines the value of marriage altogether at a time when we should be restoring marriage, not undermining it.

The Solution

Vote YES on Proposition 8 to overturn the outrageous Supreme Court decision and restore the definition of marriage that was approved by over 61% of voters. Proposition 8 is NOT an attack on gay couples and does not take away the rights that same-sex couples already have under California’s domestic partner law. California law already grants domestic partners all the rights that a state can grant to a married couple. Gays have a right to their private lives, but not to change the definition of marriage for everyone else.

Passing Proposition 8 protects our children and places into the Constitution the simple definition that a marriage is between a man and a woman.

The Rock Church San Diego is hosting a rally that will involved many people, organizations and other churches in the support of traditional marriage. iProtectMarriage.com is the website for this organized rally which will convene on October 1, 2008 complete with performances, informational messages and simulcasts as well.

Many of these sites are already drawing the ire of Gay activists who bristle at the thought that we show such unkindness and lack of love by not agreeing that homosexuality is moral. Homosexuality labeled as immoral is the fighting phrase with this community. Many are incensed that websites go up and are considered “anti-gay” because of their support for the heterosexual marriages.

Sites such as Protectmarriage.com and iProtectMarriage.com are excellent sources to load the invidivual with information to better prepare them with for making the right choice for marriage at the ballot box in November. Much of this information will equip an individual on the benefits of heterosexual marriage period!

So please take a moment and check out these very informative websites and make the right decision in November - marriage between One Man and One Woman!

Here are also some fellow bloggers sites that speak on Proposition 8. (Feel free to suggest other sites to add!)

  1. My congregation started having prayer meetings about the elections and our nation. Prayer and right decisions in voting will change this. The Bible is our guideline for living. We will be without excuse because knowledge is available. Our rights as Christians will be taken away if we do not vote correctly. I was so glad to hear that you will still be able to vote in November. As a black person I find the right to vote precious. When judges can throw out the legitimate votes of the people of a law that does not violate the constitution we are in trouble. Thank God you will be able to vote on this.

  2. Amen Pamela!

I was so glad we’re able to vote on this too and I’m eagerly anticipating great things to come out of this! I’ve seen it happen with our cross on top of Mt. Soledad here in San Diego and we eventually won that battle to keep that grand ole cross on top of the mount. I believe we will prevail with the marriage proposition as well.

No matter what happens, God is in complete control!

  3. To all my Catholic, Mormon and Evangelical Christian friends,

In the spirit of negotiation and out of the kindness of my heart, I am prepared to make an offer to all of you who so fervently and passionately, in the name of religion, are supporting proposition 8.

This is MY proposition to you:

I would like you to allow me to have a civil union, (presently called marriage license, but you can change the name if you wish), with my partner of nine years.
I would like you to allow me to be by her bedside, in the event that she is ever in intensive care.
I would like you to allow me to decide, where we shall be buried.
I would like you to allow me to have a safe home, free from pillaging, in the event that one of us should die before the other.
I would like you to allow us to take for granted, as many of you do, all the rights that are granted to “ALL PEOPLE” in the constitution of my wonderful state of California and hopefully someday of this great nation.

Now at this point of my offer, you are all probably wondering what’s in it for you, so here goes my end of the deal.

To the Catholics: I promise I will never make fun of your over priced churches. I will not assume that all priests are pedophiles. I also promise that I will continue to buy those candies that your kids sell me, for some fund raising event or another. I will go to all your festivals, eat and drink excessively, and give you plenty of my hard-earned homo money.

To the Mormons: I promise that I will never make fun of you holy underwear “garments”. I also promise that I will never bring up those little racist secrets from your past, or the fact that DNA has disproved your book’s theories. I promise I’ll try really hard not to think that all of you have fifty wives. I also assure you that when you send your missionaries to my door, on their cute little bikes, I will continue to offer them something to drink, and I will never slam the door in their face.

To the Evangelical Christians: I promise I will never speak an unkind word again, about Tammy Faye Baker’s makeup, or her hubbies little visit to our prison system. I also promise not to laugh at the TV shows where you slap someone on the head; they fall, and are miraculously cured of what ails them. I also give you my word that if any of your leaders have encounters with prostitutes. Get busted. And cry a river of tears on TV while they ask for forgiveness. I will forgive them.

And to all of you, I would like to give you my word of honor that I will never step foot in your religious houses of worship, even though you are constantly inviting me to come in and join your gangs.

I am also willing to wear some form of identification, so you can cross the street if you see me on the sidewalk, or your children want talk to me, or I spend my money in your businesses. I don’t know just yet what I should wear? Perhaps a little black triangle will do.

As you can see, I am giving you much more in my offer than I am asking for in return.

So what do you say? Deal or no Deal?

    With much love,

    Lourdes Rivas
    Los Angeles, California

  4. Lourdes, a lot that you are requesting to do can be done through today’s legal maneuvers such as hospital directives that are notarized will give you plenty of power whether you are married or not.

Now if any thing you request is specifically for married people, then I won’t budge on that. In other words - no deal!

Marriage will hopefully once and for all be defined as that between a man and a woman and you will have to find other legal means to meet your civil desires.

(Geesh, did you have to go there with Tammy Faye Baker’s makeup? Slap on the head, promiscuous leaders? That’s sad evangelical Christianity can’t be viewed better than what you see!) :(

But Lourdes, the greatest “deal” in all has already been done - God’s son for our salvation from our sins! Please do consider that one!

  5. I pray that all churchs pray that their will be such a majority of voters voting for marriage between a man & women. And that entire U.S. has only marriage between a man & women. In Jesus Name.

  6. AMEN Denise!

  7. Great information and enthusiasm. We need more people like you in the fight for Proposition 8. It is not enough to just sit in our homes and say that we agree. We must do something. That is why although I am not a Californian, I am blogging about it. I write at http://www.squidoo.com/caliprop8. A lot of my site is a compilation of information and articles about this important subject. I hope that together our online presence can change people’s hearts and minds.

p.s. I’m gonna link to your blog so my readers can find your articles.

  8. Thank you Seth!

I did take a quick look at your website and man, is it loaded with tons of information!

I’m creating a separate section on my Prop 8 index that will include fellow bloggers with great info such as yours. Christine from Talk Wisdom has a blog dedicated with marriage info as well. Her blog is called Protect Biblical Marriage under my blogroll.

Thanks again and great work on YOUR site!

  9. In anything other than a democracy, the LDS church would be considered a cult. It would also be considered criminal. Until the very recent past, racism flourished. Marriage with multiple under-aged girls prevailed. This church along with others has forced thousands of wonderful, kind, God loving people to fight and fund a battle against bigots. 60 MILLION DOLLARS down the drain. How about asking ourselves this question. What would God do with 60 million dollars?
I have a funny feeling it would have something to do with the poor, homeless and sick. NOT A CAMPAIGN OF HATE.
We, as a whole should be ashamed of ourselves.

  10. Judges should not legislate from the bench.Judges do not make the law their job is tyo interpret the law.
Marriage is the union between one and one woman. History ,tradition, social beliefs, moral practice and standards, religious beliefs have all upheld the view that marriage is between one man and one woman.
The Bible defines marriage as the holy union between a man and a woman. The Bible condemns homosexuality. (See Leviticus chapter 18 verse 22; Romans chapter 1 verses 24 to 32; Genesis chapters 18 and 19 etc condemn same sex unions ).
Marriage is a hetereo sexual institution whereby a man and a woman in love get married and procreate and have children.
We are not ignorant of the devices of the wicked one to destroy the sanctity of marriage and we therefore rebuke all foul filthy spirits that would try to touch the institution of marriage in the Name of the LORD JESUS CHRIST. Errol Smythe.

  11. Marriage is a hetreosexuasl institution. To be born born a man and awoman procreate. To have children that are not illegitimate or bastards, a man will marry the woman that he loves and that loves him in return.
The biological makeup of the male and female bodies is designed in such a way that when male and female procreate, children are conceived by the woman and after nine months a child or twins or triplets are born to the happily married couple.
A woman is fulfilling her role as a mother when she gives birth to the children of the man she has married.
The procreation cycle should not be marred or perverted by individuals that deny their natural procreation desires in pursuit of their own agenda that does not fit into the natural cycle of the survival of the race of all mankind.
To deny the natural biological function of male and female procreating as husband and wife is to commit genocide of offspring that could have been born if the natural biological procreation cycle was naturally completed. That is wrong just like genocide and abortion is wrong. Errol Smythe.

  12. Errol, I love your excellent comments regarding marriage. Do you have your own blog?
